On Monday, November 4th, the MSK performed halftime at the Giants Cowboys game at MetLife Stadium!

The performance, which was part of our 150th anniversary of college football celebration, highlighted Rutgers football history from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Music included music from Wild Cherry, Prince, Guns n' Roses, Backstreet Boys, and 98 Degrees.

The MSK Celebrate 150
Years of College Football

This season, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of college football, which began of course with the first game between Rutgers and Princeton. This season, the band will play halftime shows celebrating RU football history, featuring music from many eras. This season will be a year to remember for the Marching Scarlet Knights!

Darryl J. Bott: in Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of a member of the Rutgers Bands family and one of the greats in New Jersey music education, Darryl Bott. Professor Bott taught at Rutgers for 15 years and served in many capacities, including Director of Bands and Assistant Chair of the Music Department. In addition, he contributed nearly 30 years of dedicated teaching and service to the public schools of NJ.

The impact of Professor Bott’s hard work and talent on our ensembles and the Marching Scarlet Knights cannot be overstated. His strengths as an educator and as a person will have lasting effects not just on our programs, but on music education throughout New Jersey and beyond for many years to come. He will be dearly missed, and we send our love to his family and friends during this time.
