Director: Dr. Julia Baumanis
Rutgers Symphony Band performs both standard and contemporary literature from the wind-band repertoire. Designed to perform at the highest artistic level, this ensemble also focuses on the development of technical and musical skills for ensemble members, as well as leadership opportunities for instrumental music education majors studying conducting.
This auditioned group is comprised of both music and non-music majors and presents at least two concerts each semester. Now under the direction of Dr. Julia Baumanis, they have collaborated with faculty guest artists, including Dr. Elena Chernova-Davis on violin, and produce concerts that feature multimedia integration of video, electronic audio, and lighting design. On occasion, this ensemble also combines with the Rutgers Alumni Wind Symphony for larger mass bands, multigenerational performances.
